Ingredients:

  • 1 kilogram chicken with bones
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp calamansi extract or lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp chicken powder or magic sarap
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (plus extra for coating)
  • Half of a chicken cube seasoning
  • 4 tbsp hot water
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, sliced

 

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken with soy sauce, calamansi extract or lemon juice, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, black pepper, chicken powder, and minced ginger. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Dissolve half a chicken cube in 4 tbsp of hot water. Set aside.
  3. Coat marinated chicken pieces in cornstarch.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry chicken until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, sauté garlic and onion until aromatic.
  6. Return the chicken to the pan and add the dissolved chicken cube mixture.
  7. Cook until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the chicken.
