Directions:

  • Prepare the Base: Crush the cookies into fine crumbs. Melt the butter and mix it with the cookie crumbs, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Press this mixture into the bottom of a square or rectangular dish to form a compact base. Refrigerate for a few minutes to set.
  • Make the Chocolate Layer: In a saucepan, whisk together the egg yolk, corn starch, sugar, milk, and cocoa powder. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until smooth. Pour this chocolate layer over the cookie base and smooth the top. Refrigerate until set.
  • Make the White Layer: Repeat the process for the chocolate layer, but without the cocoa powder. Once thickened and the butter is incorporated, pour this white layer over the set chocolate layer. Smooth the top and refrigerate until set.
  • Decorate: Toast the walnuts lightly in a dry pan and chop them roughly. Melt the dark chocolate. Sprinkle the walnuts over the set white layer, then drizzle with melted dark chocolate.
  • Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the dessert until fully set, then cut into squares or bars and serve.
